Wasserman Completes Acquisition of Brillstein Entertainment Partners

In a major move that cements its presence in Hollywood, Casey Wasserman’s namesake sports and music management firm has snapped up Brillstein Entertainment Partners. The formal announcement came on Monday from Wasserman and Brillstein’s Co-CEOs, Cynthia Pett and Jon Liebman. This acquisition significantly enhances Wasserman’s portfolio in areas like marketing and content creation, given that Brillstein is the powerhouse behind hits like “The Sopranos.”

The deal also marks a homecoming of sorts for Wasserman, the grandson of film industry titan Lew Wasserman, bringing high-profile talents like Brad Pitt, Florence Pugh, and Adam Sandler under the Wasserman umbrella.

The Brillstein team, which includes Pett, Liebman, Marc Gurvitz, and Sandy Wernick, will not only continue to lead their original company but also join the executive leadership at Wasserman. This extends to other partners and 30-plus managers operating out of New York and Los Angeles.

Wasserman expressed enthusiasm about incorporating Brillstein’s “best-in-class” management and talent into his company’s expanding global services. This acquisition comes at a particularly challenging time for the talent representation business, given the ongoing strikes from the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. Yet, Wasserman seemed unfazed, focusing instead on internal excellence rather than external competition.

Adding another layer to the acquisition is Brillstein’s recent foray into TV development and production through their new subsidiary, Brillstein Creative Partners, which has already been making deals with major distributors like Netflix, Disney, and Amazon.

In a nutshell, this acquisition places Casey Wasserman’s company as a formidable contender in the intensely competitive landscape of Hollywood talent representation, further diversifying its capabilities in the process. Source
