Hulu Sets Streaming Premiere Date for The Boogeyman

Horror buffs, mark your calendars for October 5th! That’s when Rob Savage’s nail-biting adaptation of the Stephen King short story “The Boogeyman” creeps its way onto Hulu. The streaming giant is celebrating the spooky season by unleashing this bone-chilling tale just in time for Halloween.

What is the premise of The Boogeyman?

Boogeyman centres on the Harper sisters, Sadie and Sawyer, portrayed by Sophie Thatcher and Vivien Lyra Blair respectively. Their fractured family faces utter chaos after the tragic death of their mother. Their estranged father, played by Chris Messina, makes matters worse when he inadvertently welcomes a malevolent entity into their home. This supernatural force threatens to destroy the Harper household from within. Now, the dysfunctional family must band together to battle the sinister Boogeyman before it’s too late.

Early reviews indicate Boogeyman delivers on old-school horror thrills. Strong performances combined with heart-stopping scares earned the film a 61% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also spooked its way to over $67 million at the box office against a $35 million budget.

Horror hounds have had much to feast on this year with scream-worthy flicks like “Scream VI,” “Evil Dead Rise” and “M3GAN.” But the Hulu premiere of “Boogeyman” on October 5th looks set to satisfy horror appetites ahead of Halloween. The film is already available to purchase or rent on major VOD platforms. It hits Blu-ray on October 3rd for those who prefer a physical copy.
