Moviegoers will have to wait a little longer for Tom Hardy’s return as the fanged antihero Venom. Sony Pictures has pushed back the still-untitled third Venom installment from its previous July 12, 2024, slot to now open on November 8, 2024.
The rescheduling comes as Hollywood aims to get productions back on track following the SAG-AFTRA strike resolution. Venom 3 was originally eyed for a coveted summer release after the first two Hardy-led films opened in October to strong numbers in 2018 and 2021.
With Hardy back as investigative journalist Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote alter ego, the direct sequel Venom 3 finds Kelly Marcel taking the director’s chair after penning the scripts for the initial entries. Plot details remain tightly under wraps for now regarding what new trouble or villains Brock and Venom may face.
While the exact reason for the calendar shift is unclear, Sony likely aims to give Venom 3 more breathing room apart from an undisclosed event film. This new November date also returns the series to its fall sweet spot.
After appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s credits, fans are eager to see Hardy’s Eddie Brock back in action. But they’ll have to wait just a few more months for Venom’s vengeance when the threequel finally arrives. Source
