As fans eagerly await the next instalment of the Spider-Man saga, Sony aims to tide them over with a fresh Miles Morales-focused short film called The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story. The narrative dives deep into a battle that Miles faces, one that resonates universally: anxiety. The high schooler grapples with the immense weight of juggling life as a student, friend, and superhero, eventually experiencing a full-blown panic attack. This emotional odyssey serves as a poignant reminder that asking for help is its own form of courage.
This animated vignette will also kick off Sony’s groundbreaking initiative, LENS (Leading and Empowering New Storytellers), designed to pair emerging filmmakers from diverse backgrounds with existing properties to weave new narratives and spotlight untapped talent.
The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Tale is included in the 2023 Animation Is Film lineup.
