Horror aficionados, mark your calendars! Paramount has confirmed that the much-awaited sequel to its horror hit Smile is slated for a Fall 2024 release. The announcement follows the breakout success of the original movie, which was writer-director Parker Finn’s first foray into feature movies. Alongside other upcoming releases like the Mean Girls remake and the Bob Marley: One Love documentary, Smile 2 is part of Paramount’s upcoming lineup.
The original Smile centred around therapist Dr. Rose Cotter, portrayed by Sosie Bacon, who finds herself ensnared in eerie, supernatural events after witnessing a patient’s unsettling suicide. With a stellar cast including Kal Penn and Jessie T. Usher, the movie not only earned a whopping $217 million against a modest $17 million budget but also received critical acclaim for its storytelling and visual scares.
What Is Smile 2 About?
As for Smile 2, the details are scant, but the follow-up is expected to offer another dose of demonic scares. While it’s unclear whether Bacon will reprise her role, the movie’s cast announcement is on hold due to ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Nonetheless, fans are keenly awaiting what new terrifying twists Finn will bring to the sequel.
The film is set to make its worldwide premiere on October 18, 2024. Source
